Purpose in Life

The question often gets asked, “what is my purpose in life.”

If you conduct a Google search of different quotes about living a purposeful life or purpose in life, several great quotes will come forward.

Bishop T.D. Jakes said, “If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right to your purpose.

Then, there is the quote, “life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.

Last one, “There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It’s why you were born. And how you become most truly alive.

I’ve realized one thing, which is the problem with most people is they NEED “purpose” to live their lives.

It is sad that if you are going to a 10/20th year high school reunion, you have a purpose of losing weight to show people you are doing great.

If you are going for a job interview, you have a purpose of getting a good suit, shoes, hair cut.

If you had a difficult childhood, you need a purpose to get a good education to feel good about yourself to show others that you have become a productive member of society.

If you have a good job, a family that loves you, a healthy family, live in a good neighborhood and are an overall good person, you need purpose in life because life has dealt you a good hand. You asked the question, I have everything, so what’s my purpose or passion? It sounds crazy, but these people exist.

Nevertheless.

You don’t need purpose to lose weight.

You don’t need purpose to eat right.

You don’t need purpose to work hard and help people.

You don’t need purpose to educate yourself and learn from past mistakes.

You don’t need purpose to be fulfilled in life.

You don’t need purpose to want to get ahead in life.

You don’t need purpose to better yourself.

Bottom line: you don’t need purpose to live life to the fullest.

Your purpose in life must be to “respect” yourself! Period.

You don’t need purpose to get up in the morning and workout.

Self-discipline, Determination, Hard Work are words/phrases people dread.

Have the self-discipline to look at yourself in the mirror and be upfront and brutally honest with yourself.

Have the Determination to never quit on yourself, NOT because you know others depend on you; Because You depend on You!

Work hard because that’s the only thing that you understand! You are a valuable asset, not because the team needs you; because you know that you gave all that you had for you at the end of the day.

This may sound selfish. Yet, that’s the point.

We live in a world where we are so concerned about what other people are saying about us, essentially, what other people think of us. “Will I get that job, promotion, pay raise, what will my family and friends say, and the like.”

Self-discipline, Determination, Hard work, Resilience – should be a lifestyle.

Your purpose in life is to live your life on your terms!

Silence the noise.

Be your own hero.

At the end of the day; know that you gave “Today” everything you had. You can be proud of you!

Stay Hard and Keep moving.
