There is more to follow with this blog post because I believe every young person should strive for service. I am not talking about military service yet; that is an option.
Service is about helping others in society or working toward some goal (i.e., producing a product or offering a service).
As I talk to young people between the ages of 11 – 25, they are perplexed at what to do with their lives, careers and what road to travel in life.
Reason why!?! They are only thinking about themselves. It’s all about me, myself, and I; essentially, I have my iPhone, and every relationship is transactional.
A transactional relationship is based on reciprocity and needs. In a transactional relationship, both parties expect to receive something in return for their investment. These relationships are not based on the idea that you should give without expecting anything in return.
Can this happen today in our society? Giving something of yourself (e.g., your time) and not expecting anything in return.
Ponder on this today!!!
