Details are essential in life, both personally and professionally.
My mother taught me the importance of making my bed in the morning, cooking, and cleaning.
When I joined the military, making the bed was the first thing a soldier did in the morning. It’s not only the first task of the day, yet, its attention to detail.
For instance, the sheets are pulled tight, the bedspread is tight, and the pillows are properly positioned at the head of the bed.
The cooking was no different, and my mother was big on seasoning, which I learned how to bake and smoother chicken, and pork chops at 12 to 13 years of age. A man that can cook – understands how to make groceries (i.e., buy groceries) and support himself in life.
Again, seasoning food is about attention to detail and ensuring the food is palatable.
Cleaning is (of course) necessary; paying attention to details in sweeping, mopping, dusting, and putting things in order around the house pays off in life.
The attention to detail helps you connect with people in your personal and professional life.
It was the attention to detail that kept you alive in combat (see picture above).
The details are important in traveling, ensuring you have what you need when you reach your destination.
Therefore, “A man’s accomplishments in life are the cumulative effect of his attention to detail in life.” – John Foster Dulles (Secretary of State under Dwight Eisenhower).
- Doing things the right way with the details in mind can/will determine whether the task or mission is acceptable and exceptional.
In your life, relevant details can make or break you!!
The ingredients in a particular dish can make or break the overall meal.
It will put you ahead of the pack if you can pick up on the details in a conversation or situation.
Never discount minor pieces of information from the present or the past.
The best relationships are the ones where you can pick-up on many details over time. Your interactions with people and that attention to the smallest details will win you points in the long run.
Your thoughts!?!
It’s a beautiful thing when you were raised by awesome parents. The important things they taught you is still significant and important in helping prepare you for adult life.
