Today, there are many discussions around mental health. The discussions centered on anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and many other disorders; essentially, too many to list on this blog.
However, I have learned that stress, anxiety, fear, depression, and so on are a part of life.
It does not take effort to think negatively.
It does not take effort to blame other people for our failures, shortcomings, and disappointments.
It is easy to go into that dark place of disgust, envy, bitterness, and resentment. At the same time, we place blame on everything and everyone except ourselves.
When I got out of the military, I went into a deep depression because I was no longer doing what I enjoyed and no longer around the people I felt a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood.
I would get up in the morning, work out in the gym, hang out with friends and family, and essentially, do whatever I wanted to do for the day. I was a young man who retired looking for a second career. Yet, that second career was not coming fast enough, so I found myself in a depressive state of mind (feeling helpless).
I kept looking back at past failures, shortcomings, and disappointments, in which I could not move forward.
Nevertheless, as I said before, it did not take effort for me to think negatively (about everything).
I had to realize that I had to make the prudent decision to think optimistic. I had to ask myself the question, what am I grateful for? What is good in my life right now? Whom can I help with their pain, anxiety, stress, and fear?
Today, we live in a noisy, subjective, judgmental, and negative world. I was told you should never judge people, yet like a whale telling a shark, he shouldn’t bite people. If you are in the shark’s environment, chances are you will be bitten. In other words, if you are in a particular environment, prepare to be judged.
Sometimes, the judgmental person is within. We look in the mirror and place doubt and mistrust on ourselves before we even go out into the world.
Take control of your mind.
You have to decide that no matter what, I will make the best of my time, day, week, month, and year. We have to guard our mind because what we think about the most is bound to happen or come to fruition.
We are what we think about the most. If you see yourself in a depressed state and things are going wrong in your life, essentially, the situations or circumstances in your life will not improve.
However, if you believe that you can make anything happen and that the answer to your problem is coming, in essence, the answers to your problems are speeding their way to you, and things will get better.
If everything were positive, we would not need faith.
I have learned to let go of the outside noise, subjectivity, judgmental, and negativity; and concentrate on my thoughts. You must know that where there is a will, there is a way.
Believe you do make a difference, and you can overcome any obstacle or terrible circumstance.
Live in the now. Do we all have a past? Yes. Do we all have a future? Yes. But not now. Open your mind to the possibility that the answer to your problems is coming. I have to hold on and relax in the now. Focus your attention on what is in front of you right now.
Work in the now!
